Mark Zuckerberg Promises Graphic Improvements In The Metaverse After Criticism Of An Image

The drawing has become a meme on social networks.

Last week Meta announced the launch of Horizon Worlds, its virtual reality social network, in France and Spain. To do so, Mark Zuckerberg himself tweeted a screenshot of his avatar in front of two virtual models of the Eiffel Tower and the Sagrada Familia.

But the screenshot instantly became a meme for its lack of graphic appeal. Flat colors and very rudimentary 3D models underlined how far Horizon Worlds is from the graphic quality that Meta shows in its promotional videos. On escoliase networks, many came to compare it with a screenshot of Wii Sports , the famous sports game released together with Nintendo's Wii console in 2006, which even then had graphics considered quite simple.

The truth is that despite the amount of money invested in its virtual reality division, the experience of using these environments with current virtual reality headsets still has many limitations. Zuckerberg did himself no favors when composing the scene, either. In response to criticism, however, the Facebook founder says there will be major graphical changes to the platform shortly. "I know the photo I posted earlier this week was pretty basic, it was taken very quickly to celebrate the launch.

Horizon's graphics are capable of so much more and Horizon is improving very quickly," he explained.

Along with his apology, Zuckerberg showed the design that the avatars of the social network could soon have, much more refined, and some more realistic-looking environments where it will be possible to meet. These changes are expected to be announced during the Connect developer conference, which is traditionally held in late September or early October.
