One of the advantages of WhatsApp is that it is completely independent of the two major mobile platforms, Android and iOS. That has made it an almost universal solution for messaging. But while it can be used on any platform, there is a significant barrier to switching between them. It is not always possible to transfer the message history file.

Between phones with the same operating system there is no problem. All you have to do is activate the message backup, let it be synchronized with the server, and register on the new phone, restoring the messages from the last copy made.
But when it comes to switching between platforms this solution doesn't work because that backup is stored inside Google or Apple cloud service respectively. You need a migration tool that directly copies messages from one terminal to another.

From today it is possible to do it to go from an Android to an iPhone, as long as the iPhone is updated to version 15.5 of the iOS operating system and the latest beta version of WhatsApp is used.
The tool is integrated into Move to iOS, a feature that can be activated during the initial setup of an iPhone and allows contacts, photos and certain preferences to be transferred from an Android phone to the new iPhone.
Upon detecting WhatsApp on the Android phone, the tool will now offer to transfer all messages and automatically download the app on the target iPhone. When the configuration process is finished, it will only be necessary to validate the user on the iPhone and all the messages and groups will be available just as they were on the old phone.
This option was already available in the reverse direction, but only for a few Android users. Samsung's migration assistant, SmartSwitch, allowed WhatsApp message history to be transferred from an iPhone in the same way but using a USB-C / Lightning cable.
