Many wonder what will change with the arrival of Elon Musk on Twitter. According to Engadget, Musk wants Twitter's monthly users to go from 217 million at the end of 2021 to nearly 600 million by 2025 and 931 million users by 2028. That's more than quadruple its monthly users over the next six years. Musk also wants to have 104 million paying subscribers.

Musk also wants to diversify the way Twitter makes money. Today, advertising accounts for about 90% of Twitter's revenue ; Musk wants to reduce it to 45% by 2028. His forecast would include $12 billion in ad revenue and $10 billion in subscription revenue.
To reach those lofty goals, Twitter would obviously need a lot more paying users. Musk predicts 69 million users of Twitter Blue - Twitter's subscription service only available in the US - by 2025 and 159 million by 2028. Therefore, many fear that Twitter will stop being what it is and become a authentic machine to make money at any price.
