Its most exclusive bet for the European market will be a new folding phone, the Mate XS2, which will hit stores in June at a price of 1,999 euros.
The inclusion in the US "blacklist" has made things very difficult for Huawei. The company cannot access many of the components and software needed to make smartphones and other competitive electronics. But that does not mean that it is dead and today, at an international event, it has presented several new products with which it will try, once again, to weather the storm.
From the outset, its most exclusive bet for the European market will be a new folding phone, the Mate XS2, which will hit stores in June at a price of 1,999 euros. The phone stands out for features that go beyond the folding screen. It has a weight, for example, of only 255 grams, which is quite little for this type of device. It does this by using fiberglass and lightweight steel for many of the internal components, including the dual-rotation hinge that allows the phone to fold into a compact form factor.

The screen, with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, is 7.8 inches diagonal when unfolded and 6.5 - in a longer format - when folded like a phone. The camera module consists of a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. Its biggest problem, as a result of regulatory conditions, is that it does not have 5G support and uses a processor that is not the latest generation, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 that is not the processor model that a high-end phone, both for price and for the rest of benefits would use.
As in other of the company's recent phones, the operating system is a modified version of Android, HarmonyOS, which replaces many of Google's tools, which Huawei cannot access, with its own alternatives.
MANY WATCHES
In addition to the new folding smartphone, Huawei has used the event to show off a new collection of smart watches, the Huawei Watch GT3 Pro, the Huawei Watch Fit 2, the Huawei Watch D, and the Huawei Band 7.

Only two of them will reach Spanish stores. The Huawei Watch GT3 Pro is the most ambitious bet of the group, which boasts an autonomy of almost 15 days. It is a watch with a circular dial and a classic look that, as is usual in this type of device, is focused above all on notifications and health. It has two case sizes, 42 and 46 millimeters, made of ceramic or titanium, respectively. In both cases, the screen is AMOLED and the watch works with an adapted version of the company's operating system, HarmonyOS.
Equipped with GPS, the watches include several functions dedicated to measuring sports performance, with more than 100 training modes, water resistance and a heart and blood oxygen level sensor. The smallest model will go on sale for 369 euros, the largest for 499 euros.
The Huawei Watch Fit 2 is a cheaper bet with a rectangular design that boasts a 10-day battery. It has a high-density 1.75-inch screen and a new Strap Connection system that makes it much easier to switch between different colors and materials. It measures heart rate and blood oxygen and can also be used to track sleep.
The watch starts at 149 euros for the active version, with a rubber strap, and can reach 249 euros if you choose the elegant version, with a metal strap.
