WhatsApp Decides To Impose More Restrictions On Forwarding Messages

WhatsApp banned all its users around the world from forwarding messages to up to 20 people in 2018 to prevent the spread of viral rumors, which was further reduced to 5 in 2019.

Earlier, in the world's most popular messaging application, users could forward messages to as many individuals and groups as they wished. Now, the messaging app owned by Meta has decided to impose more restrictions on forwarding messages.

According to WABetainfo, a site that tracks WhatsApp updates , the company is now imposing restrictions on forwarding messages in group chats. According to the report, a new range of forward messages has been introduced in the Android beta version of WhatsApp.

TikTok And The War In Ukraine

Now when users forward a message to WhatsApp groups or an individual user, after 5 times it gets labeled Forwarded Many times. But now when a message is labeled forwarded by WhatsApp, the message cannot be forwarded to more than one group chat at a time.

If you want to forward a message to more than one group, you must do this multiple times (to as many groups as you want to send), ie send them one by one. This restriction will also apply to messages that have been forwarded only once. This means that it is different from the previous limit and will affect the WhatsApp experience for many users.

But the change is aimed at providing a safer environment for consumers and ensuring that fake news does not spread easily.

Keep in mind that the Forward Message Label was introduced worldwide by WhatsApp so that people would know that it was not sent by their friend and they would decide to spread it after checking its authenticity.
