Lapsus$: How Did A 16-Year-Old British Boy Become A millionaire With The Help Of Hacking?

A 16-year-old boy from Oxford, UK, has been accused by authorities of being one of the leaders of a cybercrime group called Lapsus$ and has amassed more than 10 million through hacking.

City of London police say they have arrested seven young men belonging to the gang but have not confirmed that the 16-year-old is among them.

The boy is said to have hacked into the internet using his nickname 'White' or 'Breach Base'. He has autism and is part of the Lapsus$ Hacking gang, which is said to be based in Latin America. Lapsus$ is a relatively new gang but soon gained popularity and is considered to be the most dangerous hacking cyber group which has successfully hacked well known companies like Microsoft etc.

The boy, who is under 18 years of age, could not be named but is said to be attending a special needs children's school in Oxford.

The boy's father told that his family was disturbed by his habits and tried to keep him away from the computer. He added: "I had never heard of them all until recently. He never talked about hacking but he is very fast in computer etc. and spends a lot of time on it.

How did this guy get caught?

The reason for catching 'White' was that some of his associates became hackers on a hacker's website, after which the hackers of that website revealed the boy's name, address and pictures of him on social media.

He also published details of the boy's hacking career, saying: "In just a short time, the boy has collected a total of 300 bitcoins (worth more than 10 million pounds) and is now linked to a group called Lapsus$, a ransomware. According to the news agency Bloomberg, the cyber security researchers have been searching for 'White' for a long time and they have linked him to Lapsus$.
