The latest version of Apple's operating system has a facial recognition option that supports the use of protection.
The latest update to iOS 15.4, the final version, is now available and allows you to unlock the iPhone 12 using the Face ID facial recognition system with a mask on.
The company has announced that this feature is available on newer iPhone versions as well as later versions of this operating system. Specifically, users with iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone Pro, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max will be able to use this new unlocking option.
To use Face ID with a mask, it is only necessary to activate the 'Face ID with a mask' option to proceed with facial scanning, without the need to remove this protection. This solution can be useful, since the owners of these versions of iPhone will not be forced to remove it every time the system requests facial recognition.

Biometric unlocking can also be applied while wearing glasses and a mask. To do this, it is only necessary to configure it with both elements on and up to four different pairs of glasses can be added. In this case, you should open the Settings menu of the application and press Face ID & Passcode. Then choose the option 'Add glasses' and follow the instructions on the screen.
From Apple they have recalled that Face ID with a mask is only designed for transparent lenses and does not work with sunglasses, since it must clearly appreciate the eyes and other areas of the face.
Face ID facial recognition is used to authenticate apps, unlock devices, make purchases with Apple Pay in the iTunes Store, App Store, and Book Store in Apple Books, or autofill passwords in Safari.
