Microsoft OneDrive will stop syncing with Windows 7 and 8

Microsoft is trying to force people to opt for newer versions of Windows. Thus, they have warned that OneDrive on desktops will stop synchronizing with Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 personal accounts as of March 1, 2022. Therefore, users who require this application will have to upgrade to Windows 10 or Windows 11 in order to continue using their data in the cloud. The software will no longer receive updates as of January 1 of the next year. Although, yes, the web version can continue to be used to transfer files manually.

Users who use the "Business" versions, that is, offices and businesses, will have a longer period to make the jump to the new versions. So much so, that those who use Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 with these versions will have until January 10, 2023 (at which time support for both platforms will end). Meanwhile, Windows 8 has already lost these functionalities.

The company has ensured that this change is due, to a large extent, to the need to focus its resources on new platforms and technologies, leaving aside those that have been obsolete for a long time.

Social robots? Researchers may be working on the first robots with this ability

The robots in the movies are known to help (or hinder) humans, but in the real world, they have quite limited social skills, far away are those robots in the cinema that are capable of making themselves feel as human or more human than us.

A group of computer science researchers from MIT's CSAIL are trying to fix that by teaching robots how to interact with other robots to further their own goals. The research could lead to improving human-robot interactions in assisted living facilities, for example, and even help psychologists better measure human-to-human social interactions.

To study these interactions, the researchers created a simulated 2D environment that allowed virtual robots to pursue both social and physical goals. For example, a physical goal might be to navigate to a tree at a certain point on a grid, while a social goal is to guess what another robot is trying to do and then act on that, "like helping another robot water the tree "as explained in the CSAIL.

The robot is rewarded for actions that bring it closer to its goals, with an equivalent reward for helping and punishment for hindering it. The team created three types of robots: the first has only physical goals, the second has physical and social goals , but it assumes that all robots have only physical goals. The third assumes that everyone else has social and physical goals, so you can take more advanced actions like joining with others to achieve a goal.
