Hackers entered the e-mail system of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and sent millions of warning messages about a possible cyber attack.
According to a Reuters report, the agency said in a statement that fake emails were sent from the FBI's official e-mail address, ending at ic ic.fbi.gov.

The FBI said that the hardware affected by the incident was taken offline immediately after the issue came to light, which is a persistent situation.
The hackers sent millions of emails warning of a possible cyber attack, the spam house project, a risk monitoring organization, said in a tweet.
We have been made aware of "scary" emails sent in the last few hours that purport to come from the FBI/DHS. While the emails are indeed being sent from infrastructure that is owned by the FBI/DHS (the LEEP portal), our research shows that these emails *are* fake.

SpamHouse also shared a copy of an email sent in a tweet.
The subject line of the e-mail stated, "Urgent: there are threats to the system," while the e-mail apparently ends with the signature of the Department of Homeland Security.
It should be noted that the FBI is the largest local intelligence and security services in the United States and is affiliated with the Justice Department.
A statement from the agency said, "Both the FBI, Cyber Security and the Infrastructure Security Agency are aware of this incident.
