MacBook Pro 16" | Apple New 2021 Laptop MacBook Pro 16 Inch's Will Not Be Able To Receive Full Charge Via USB-C

It will be the first laptop to exceed 100W of load. You will only reach that number using the MagSafe 3.

On 18/10/2021 the Apple "Unleashed" event was held where the company took the opportunity to announce several of its new and upcoming products. The highlight were the new 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro and whose full characteristics you can read through this link. Among all these features not only stands out its great performance capacity but also its long battery life and how fast it is able to charge.

As stated in the 9to5Mac, this striking fast-charging capacity is due to the fact that the 16 "MacBook Pro is the first laptop to exceed 100W of charge. However, this can only be done using the MagStrafe 3 cable. that comes with the 2021 MacBook Pro, and it will not be possible through the USB-C ports. The reason is quite simple, and is that USB-C cables do not support such charging powers. At most, they support up to 100W.

Apple participated in the development of USB PD 3.1 EPR, which can support 240W charging. It is precisely this type of USB model that the 2021 MacBook Pro charger uses. The problem is in what has already been mentioned: even if they want to make it a standard, it is something so new that there are still no USB-C to USB-C EPR cables available.

It is worth mentioning that there are cables of these characteristics in development. In addition, if you get the new MacBook Pro from 2021, you can charge it with more than 100W of power through the MagStrafe 3. To get an idea, it will be able to charge up to 50% of the laptop's battery in just 30 minutes.
