Better cameras and chips, larger displays, longer battery life, up to a terabyte of storage space on the latest luxury iPhone model: Apple continues to pump up the performance of its iPhones, Apple Watches and iPad minis.
With the PR machine well-oiled as expected, Apple CEO Tim Cook used this year's online presentation of his latest corporate developments to finally bring products, products, products into the public eye again. That had been a little different in the weeks before, when the company had to take a few dampers: First there was a lot of criticism of Apple's announced measures against the spread of images of child abuse, followed by the verdict in the process with the game manufacturer Epic, which was not entirely positive for Apple failed . And then Apple had to release an urgent software update on Monday because it had a security holehad made iPhones and iPads vulnerable to the Pegasus spy software . So you could say that some good news really couldn't hurt from a business perspective.

As predicted by industry observers, Cook and his team presented the new iPhone 13 series. The design is not that different from the previous generation, but Apple has obviously put a lot of work into improving the cameras and the quality of the recordings. The wide-angle cameras in particular have been upgraded, and photos in poor lighting conditions should also work better. There is also a new cinema mode with which the focus in videos can be shifted to different image levels and objects depending on what is happening.
At the core of the new iPhone models are new A15 bionic chips developed by Apple itself, which are based on 5-nanometer technology and are said to be up to 50 percent faster than the chips of the competition. The new-generation iPhones also have more storage space: the iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 are only available from 128 GB of storage, the premium models iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max now store data volumes of up to one terabyte. Industry experts had already suspected that in advance. The battery life of the 13 series is to be increased by 1.5 to 2.5 hours compared to models of the iPhone 12 series. The new iPhones should also be able to receive 5G better.
Unlike in 2020, when the presentation of the iPhones was delayed, the new devices should be delivered from September 24th. Price range: The cheapest new iPhone will be available from 799 euros, the most expensive from 1,249 euros.

Cook also presented a new iPad model and a completely redesigned iPad mini. The new iPad mini is now 5G-compatible, has a USB-C port and a Touch ID that has been relocated to the power button. With several products, Apple emphasized its concern for environmental protection and recycling. However, it would be much more resource-efficient if customers simply used their previous devices for a little longer.
Overall, however, Apple fulfilled quite a few of the expectations that were circulating before the product presentation. So there weren't any big surprises. There was nothing to be seen of a new generation of AirPod headphones that observers had previously speculated on.
This shows that the days when this annual September event had an almost magical effect on the company's supporters are now over. Nevertheless, the group has shown that it is still able to retrofit and improve what is going well. And that on a solidly high, but also very high-priced level.
The new iPhone 13 promise to record like a movie camera
Apple will launch four new iPhone 13s and two new iPads next week . They will be joined this fall by a new version of their smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 7.
Instead of announcing them all at its brand new headquarters, Apple Park , this time the company executives have traveled to different parts of the state of California to present the different news but regardless of the location the event has been held at a difficult time for the company.

This week the Californian judge Yvonne González Rogers, who has presided over the case that faces Apple and Epic since last year , has issued her verdict. It is very favorable for Apple, which does not consider a monopoly as requested by Epic , but requires the company to change some of its policies in the AppStore.
Apple will have to allow developers to link from apps to alternative payment and subscription systems, which could be a serious blow to the company's accounts, in which the income from the sale of virtual objects or subscriptions in apps and games each time they have a greater weight.
DOUBLE iPAD
The first announcement of the day has been a renewed iPad range. Apple has improved the basic and cheaper model of its tablet. The new iPad has an A13 Bionic processor, support for Center Stage, which automatically frames the image on the user in a video conference, and better cameras and display.
Its main attraction will continue to be the price. The new iPad will be available from next week for 379 euros and with volume discounts for educational institutions.
The iPad Mini is also updated, and in a much more thorough way. Now it has a design similar to that of the iPad Pro and iPad Air , with a USB-C connection and a TouchID fingerprint sensor on the power button.
The Apple tablet will continue to be the most compact in the catalog but thanks to its new design it has a larger screen, 8.2 inches . It will be compatible with the second generation Apple Pencil and will have 5G support.
Available in four different colors, the new iPad mini will be priced at 549 euros and can be reserved from today and purchased from next week.
AN IPHONE WITH A BETTER SCREEN
Apple no longer follows the normal iPhone naming cycle , in which years of minor changes iPhones only added an S to the previous year's model. But the idea is still valid and in a way the iPhone 13 is an iPhone 12S, a more refined model, but similar in appearance, to the one presented last year.
That is not to say that there are no major changes. The biggest, in the case of the iPhone 13 Pro , is on the screen. Apple has used a new panel technology that allows the phone to achieve 120 Hz image refresh thanks to ProMotion.
This feature, which is already common in many high-end and mid-range Android phones and was already present in some iPad models , makes animations much more fluid and also reduces consumption when there are static images on the screen.
One of the fears with this type of screen is the impact on autonomy, but Apple assures that the new iPhone even improve autonomy around 10% compared to previous models thanks to the screen, the new processor and the larger battery . In general, users can expect 1.5-2.5 more hours of autonomy on the different models.
In the case of non-Pro iPhones, the screen will remain an OLED panel, although the brightness has improved to 800 nits , 28% more than the previous one.
The notch, as the upper notch of the screen that houses the front camera and the biometric identification sensor is known, is also somewhat narrower (20%) in all the new models.
Otherwise, the design of the phones is identical to that of the iPhone 12. Apple has kept the four models from the previous year. There is a 6.7-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max , a 6.1-inch iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13, and a 5.4-inch iPhone 13 mini.
ALMOST FILM CAMERA
The camera is the element that makes the difference between the iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 . The iPhone 13 models have two rear cameras, a wide angle 120 degree field of view and a wide angle . The Pro add a LIDAR sensor capable of capturing depth in the scene and a telephoto lens with a three-fold optical zoom (6x from wide angle).
All the cameras of this generation are brighter than in the iPhone 12 and the angular one (the main one) now uses a larger sensor and with mechanical stabilization.
Apple has also improved the quality of the lenses and the capture in night mode, which can now capture the night sky with much better quality, preserve colors better and also works in the wide angle. The iPhone 13 Pro will also have macro mode in the telephoto camera to photograph objects at close range.
The phones will also come with a new "Photo Styles" feature , which are default modes of customizable color and exposure settings for each photographer. This feature will be available on all iPhone 13 models.
The great protagonist of this generation, however, is video and cinematic mode. The cameras not only record 4K quality video with HDR, but now include new focus transitions and focus locks on people for an effect similar to that of movies shot with professional equipment.
The iPhone 13 Pro will even be capable of recording in ProRes format , an encoding system used in professional video streams, although this feature will arrive with a later iOS update.
As is usual, the iPhone also debut a new generation of processor. In this case it is the A15 Bionic . The iPhone 13 model will have 4 graphics power cores, the iPhone 13 Pro will have 5 and Apple says they are the fastest in any current mobile phone.
Although in recent weeks it has been rumored that the chip could also include a modem to allow the iPhone to communicate with satellites for emergency calls, finally the connection of the iPhone 13 is similar to that of the iPhone 12, but with greater 5G bands support.
The new iPhone models will go on sale on September 24 and the prices are similar to the current iPhone 12 (which will continue to be sold at a lower price). The iPhone 13 mini will cost 809 euros ; the iPhone 13, 909 euros ; the iPhone 13 Pro, 1,159 euros ; and the iPhone 13 Pro Max, 1,259 euros . The iPhone 13 will be available in five colors and the iPhone 13 Pro in four. All phones boot into a minimum of 128GB of memory, but the Pro models may, for the first time, have 1TB of internal storage.
APPLE WATCH SERIES 7Unlike the iPhone, the new Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Series 7, does come with a major design change, although not as much as the latest rumors suggested.
With 40% thinner bezels, there is more room for the screen, which now shows more information. Apple has redesigned the interface with easier-to-press buttons and even a full keyboard for entering text.
Earlier model straps will remain compatible and while new sensors for Apple Watch Series 7 (including a body temperature one) have been rumored , it will ultimately not have
none new. Yes it will come with a new processor, more powerful and lower consumption, and some additional functions compared to the previous Apple Watch, such as fast charging.
The new Apple Watch will be available this fall but the company has not yet announced the precise ones in Europe. As in previous years there will be versions with aluminum, steel and titanium cases, and special editions together with the Nike and Hermès brands.
