For this reason, the American company has set the end of its traditional browser pre-installed in Windows at June 15, 2022 , with the end of support for its desktop application in certain versions of Windows 10.

Microsoft has explained that its new Edge browser is not only more secure and modern than Internet Explorer, but it ensures "compatibility with old and legacy websites and applications" from other programs, including the previous non-Chromium-based version of Edge.

The withdrawal of support for Internet Explorer 11 will not affect server-based browser applications or the Windows 10 Long Term Service Channel (LTSC), as well as the MSHTML (Trident) engine.
