Siri Incorporates A New Non-Binary Gender Voice

The Apple assistant, who was born with a female voice, also has a male version and two others, of these genders, played by black actors.

Apple has added to its Siri digital assistant, as part of its 15.4 update to its iOS mobile operating system, a new non-binary gender voice, which is not clearly identified as male or female and that users can choose.

Siri already had, in its English version, four different voices for users to choose from. To the initial of woman, which until last year was the default, three others were added, two of them performed by black actors.

Monetization Opportunities For Creators

Now, Apple's smart assistant has received a fifth voice in its English language version, this time of non-binary gender, which is not clearly associated with male or female.

The American company, which has confirmed the new function to Axios, has assured that it has hired a person from the LGTBQ+ community to develop Siri's new voice. Siri's new feature serves the purpose of " giving users more options to choose a voice that speaks for them."

Siri's non-binary gender voice has reached developers as part of the fourth beta of the iPhone mobile operating system, iOS 15.4, which will be available to end users in March.
